Roman village of La Verna

Located in Torrelles de Foix (Alt Penedès, Barcelona) is an archaeological site inhabited in the final phase of the Iberian period and the entire Roman period (2nd century BC – 4th century AD).

The villa has a residential part with a private thermal area (balneum). Another part is dedicated to agricultural work with millstone to grind cereal to flour and a winery to make wine, with the presence of a deposit to ferment the must (lacus), various fragments of dolia and archaeobotanical remains, such as charred seeds of grape (Vitis vinifera).

Archaeological research is a project made a reality thanks to Heretat Laverna, Ajuntament de Torrelles de Foix, Diputació de Barcelona i Dept. de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
