Land, Water, Vine and Wine.
The situation of the Heretat Laverna Estate at Torrelles de Foix with its alluvial soils surrounded by torrents, made sense to choose a placename for the wines whose meaning incorporates the organic character of marks that are created form the usual downpours in the surroundings area of the estate and the vineyards to channel the water to nearby streams.
The wines from the first 2021 vintage are all single varietal wines that include white certified organic wines made from Xarel lo and Parellada. The Organic red wine is made from Merlot grapes. All still wines are certified organic and labeled under the D.O. Penèdes Appellation. Winemaking at Heretat Laverna is essentially a hommage and more could be appropriate than that of a Petnat from Old estate goblet farmed vines of Parellada, thus our Ancestral from a 50-year-old vines, completes the collection of wines.
The Heretat Laverna Estate
Signs of the family legacy date back to deeds registered since 1342 where 16 generations of the Escofet Family have maintained an uninterrupted presence at the Masia (manor) and the cultivation of adjoining lands surrounded by streams and forests.
The recent archeological finds the Termas de Laverna, Ibers and Roman Villa as well as the recovery of traditional Old Vines have prompted with refounding winemaking at the estate.
Ecoheritage Vineyard Estates
The role of land stewards anchored in the traditional role of the Pagesia (Peasantry) whose purpose is also sustaining traditions and preservation of the landscape, in our case, the present generation has found its calling in the continuous promotion of archaeological explorations to unearth our Iber and Roman origins, make it all the more logical that winemaking to find itself as an important contributor to the livelyhood as well as a means to expressing the territory.
